Balloons taking off in the morning
These photos were taken some time back during the Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in the middle of March (18-21 Mar).
I know, it's one month overdue but I like this collection of photos, hence, I have decided to put it up here anyways.
When I first read about this event (some time in late February) which was going to be held in March at the nation's administrative capital , I was sold on the idea. No further convincing was needed. I made arrangements with J, who was equally sold on the idea, to go together to catch this experience. So we decided that Saturday was the best day to go since both of us were free on that day--no church activities, no working weekends, not too much work to catch up on, nada. The timing just seemed perfect for us.
(This event took place only a few hours after my post on St Patrick's Day at 1 Utama).
So we woke up early on Saturday--very uncharacteristically of us... for me, at least--to catch the event. I guess we were fortunate to arrive just about 8am, otherwise we would have missed the entire balloon fleet's take off from Prescinct 2 to another part of the city. I heard from some friends who went later that they missed the flight and were only resigned to see those tethered ones which were tied down for those RM10 ride.
Talking about the tethered RM10 balloon rides, to be honest and in my own humble opinion (your opinion may differ but that's ok), it's not really worth the price considering that the balloons didn't really go up very high. Maybe just about the height of up to a third or fourth floor apartment level and that was it. So we didn't bother although the queue suggested otherwise. Plenty of people queued up to get on the balloons regardless.
Still, it was a breathtaking experience to have seen hot air balloons for the first time in our soil. My first time too. Didn't manage to see them during my time at Australia.
Anyway, I shan't bore you so here are the pics:

Before they inflate and fly off, quick grab the camera and create a photo-op

The vendor and his merchandise
The Empire Strikes Back... the head of Darth Vader floating away
One of the Dutch balloons. Interesting one with multiple balloons
What do you call this?
